ABOUT US

Our Organization works to save The Pink House from demolition and support its role as an iconic structure under new ownership for generations to come.

In the fall of 2015, a small Steering Committee formed with the immediate goal of checking to be sure The Pink House was sound as a structure (she is!) then save her from demolition, originally scheduled to take place in May 2016.  After regular communication with the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, and with the help of the Federal Delegation: Senator Warren, Senator Markey and Congressman Moulton's offices, we succeeded in achieving a stay of demolition until the fall of 2017, when our work then focused  on finding a solution.

Part of our process includes collaborating with local organizations, area experts and elected officials as we all look into preservation avenues, land swap options, individual occupancy, and other possible solutions. Built in 1925, The Pink House has been lived in and loved by individual owners for all of her almost 100 years, until she was put on the market by the last family who grew up there, and was bought by the US Fish and Wildlife in 2011.

We are constantly increasing our community outreach through social media, art and window sticker sales, merchant networking, petition drives, and events.  This has resulted in an immense amount of support for our goal of saving this cherished structure.  In addition to our goal of saving the house, we have enjoyed seeing the many artists, photographers, and writers that have produced incredible works inspired by The Pink House.  In addition, local artisans have grown their Pink House themed items and many merchants are featuring them. We appreciate their contribution to the visibility of this effort.  Birders come to enjoy catching everything from the Snowy Owl to Bald Eagles to migrating flocks alighting on the roof, cupola and chimney.  The Pink House brings more and more visitors to the area, who then shop, eat and stay, brining an increase in economic value to the community as a result, especially in off-season.

After our incredibly successful week at the 2016- 2017 Yankee Homecoming Artisan’s Revival, and from the early events and public meetings, we have built a volunteer base to help us pursue and implement the numerous initiatives we’ve taken on.  With their help, and with yours, we are confident that we can be successful in this cause!

The O
rganization has formally incorporated and applied for tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status.

If you'd like to help, we'd welcome you!  Please take 5 minutes to fill out our interest/volunteer survey, or write us at: info@savethepinkhouse.com.
