STeering committee   ADVISORY BOARD

Picture

Alison Odle - Founder, Research Director

After seeing the multitude of breathtaking images of the Pink House, Alison knew something had to be done.  So, she created a Facebook group that began our movement.  Encouraged by the overwhelming support of the community, she recruited members and volunteers to join the cause, and continues to participate in the effort to save the Pink House.

Rochelle Joseph - Chairwoman, Outreach

Rochelle believes that it’s important not to tear down things that give a place it’s character and make it so special.  Since the only way to change anything is to DO  something, she joined with Alison  to co-create the Support the Pink House group. Since then, she has been devoted to spreading awareness, and involving local, sate and federal elected officials and organizations to come together for a solution. Rochelle is an Image and Marketing Consultant and Instructor.

Eric Hoover - Creative Director, Artist Liaison

Eric was an art teacher in Chelmsford for 35 years before retiring and opening an art studio in Newburyport in 2016.  Through Facebook, he found that  Save the Pink House Discussion Group was founded by Alison Odle, his former art student!  Like many who live in the area, Eric loves seeing the Pink House and feels an affinity with this local landmark.  He began his involvement by offering to design a logo for the effort.  After attending a couple informational meetings, he joined the Steering Committee and has since designed and branded all PH merchandise-  stickers, banners, brochures, and t-shirts and more.  The logo, a black house with a pink background, will have its colors reversed once a permanent solution to save the Pink House has been reached.

Jeff Ackley - Public Relations, Marketing

David Dempsey - Building and Land Specialist

David is recently retired after 31 years as a Special Education Administrator and High School Coach.  He is married to Carol Dempsey and has two daughters, one of whom teaches at Triton Regional H.S. and lives on Plum Island.  David has lived on Plum Island for over 8 yeras, and became involved with Support The Pink House after he read that it was scheduled for demolition.  Because most of the historic structures that tell the story of Plum Island have been demolished, David feels strongly that the Pink House should be spared.

Jonathan Elcock - Photography and Web Design

Originally a bird photographer, Jonathan found his inspiration for landscape photography by photographing compositions of the Pink House.  Now a published and awarded landscape photographer, Jonathan learned of the impending demolition and offered the use of his images as a way of supporting the cause.  He donates a portion of every sale of his Pink House images to our organization.  Since getting involved, he has assisted with social media and web design.
